Dallas Meetup: Aug. 4, 2006, 7:30 p.m., Irish Rover
By Chuck
Okay — we’ve been discussing a Dallas-area meetup for a month now, but Audra, Sean, and I were too busy with the massive three-peat week of podcasting to organize it properly. Now that we’re back to one-a-week, I’m ready to do the job right.
So who’s up for a Dallas meetup and when? FYI: Sean is out of town this weekend and next, but will be back following. Audra and I are in town for the next month at least. Note: if some of you are willing to travel but can’t make it at the same time as the others, we’ll schedule more than one meet.
Anyway, let’s work it out in comments, and we’ll see you in Dallas.
Update: This is coming together nicely. August 4th is now a firm date!
Update #2: (Bump!) We’re now planning August 4th starting at 7:30 to 8:00 p.m., and we’ll have a location shortly. If you’re planning on traveling to the meetup, drop us a line (or let us know in comments) and we’ll help you find what you need in the area.
Update #3: We’re on for the Irish Rover in Frisco, TX. (It’s just North of Dallas not far off the Dallas North Tollway. MAP) It’s a pub/restaurant that has food, lots of places to sit, good beer on tap, etc. If you’re traveling, there are numerous hotels nearby.

Let’s do a New Hampshire meetup!

Try near me in Londonderry!
July 11th, 2007 at 11:10 am
Any weekend is good for me for the next month or so.
July 11th, 2007 at 11:34 pm
Stevearino: Ok, how ’bout a tentative August 4th date?
July 13th, 2007 at 12:58 am
Sounds good to me. Anyone else going? I sure would feel odd being the fourth wheel, so to speak.
July 13th, 2007 at 2:48 pm
Okay, I’m gonna check out my work/school schedule. Weekends are generally best but I do have Fridays off of school and with the right blend of my personal charm and disarming finesses, I can get a Saturday off too. Let me check the calendars and I’ll see what’s feasible.
July 13th, 2007 at 9:45 pm
I’d enjoy coming to a meet-up in Big D on August 4, so long as nobody minds an Okie!
July 13th, 2007 at 11:23 pm
Granger: Sweet. We’ll count you in!
Gray: August 4th is a Saturday. Do you think you could make it?
Stevarino’s in, too. Unless Gray has a schedule conflict, it looks like the 4th’s gonna work for our first Dallas meetup. We’ll find a good place this week and post it back in comments.
July 16th, 2007 at 9:15 am
Okay, I’m going to find out for sure today if that date will woork. I’ve got my fingers crossed.
July 16th, 2007 at 10:13 am
Sweet! We got another confirm by email today, so it looks like it’s gonna be a good time.
July 16th, 2007 at 3:02 pm
(Waitin’ to hear from Gray…)
Looking forward to meetin’ y’all!

Cripes.
I am scheduled to work that Saturday but I am going to do my damnedest to get off early and see if I can’t make it up there. This is just too good to pass up

July 20th, 2007 at 3:34 pm
Gray: We haven’t set a time yet. What times would help you make it?
July 22nd, 2007 at 2:32 pm
Whoa. SOrry about the double post.
I suppose that I kind of assumed it would be an evening thing anyway.
If I could leave around 2 ish that would put me up there hopefully around seven if not a little bit earlier and meet yall somewhere.
Does that sound workable at alll or were yall planning something in the daytime?
July 22nd, 2007 at 4:50 pm
Nope, nighttime is what we were thinkin’. Glad you might be able to make it after all!
July 23rd, 2007 at 2:12 pm
7:30 to 8:00 seems kinda short… A 30 minute meet up?
July 23rd, 2007 at 2:25 pm
I’m hoping that means the starting time…..right?
July 23rd, 2007 at 2:39 pm
This is it. Phoenix meetup my house 8o’clock tonight. All of you be there, or else.
*twirls keys to basement full of old school Centurions, 10 Sandworms, a barely contained black hole, and about 5 full sets of Predator armour*
July 23rd, 2007 at 9:12 pm
Welcome to the ‘Cooler, Granger and Melinda!
July 23rd, 2007 at 11:09 pm

Trak101 - Aww yeah! Thirty minutes and you’ll be so floored with our combined awesomeness and wit, we figured it’s all you could take! It’s for your own protection.

July 30th, 2007 at 6:11 pm
hello all. fellow listener.. though this is my first time on the boards..
I may try to make it out there.. I’m down in Austin, but it’s my cousin’s birthday that weekend so I’ve been debating on making a trip up there anyways.
July 31st, 2007 at 12:30 pm
I was sooo close to being able to get to Dallas. Weekend off? Check. Hotel? Check. Come on American netsavers - D’oh! Craaaaap. Oh well. Maybe next time. Have a great time, y’all!
July 31st, 2007 at 3:30 pm
Ok, we’re on for the Irish Rover pub/restaurant from 7:30p to ?? Good food, good beer, and lots of BSG talk. Drop us a line via the “contact us” link if you need help finding anything.
July 31st, 2007 at 5:48 pm
I wish I could come up. I am only in Houston, but not planning any out-of-town trips soon….you know, terms of my probation and all.
Anybody ever want to do a Houston meetup?
(just kidding about probation, honestly I was!)
July 31st, 2007 at 6:49 pm
Sounds great! Looking forward to seeing everyone.
July 31st, 2007 at 11:33 pm
Wish I could make it, but all my money is tied up in college
Y’all should come to Oxford sometime!
August 1st, 2007 at 8:20 am
Are we going to have reservations there?
August 1st, 2007 at 8:58 am
Nick: It’s a pub, so there’s really no need. If you’re worried about finding us, we’ll be all the geeks at one table, three of which look like their little icons.
August 1st, 2007 at 3:14 pm
Ok folks,
I think I’ve got everything worked out. I’m hoping to be able to leave and get there in the nick of time.
If anybody’s willing to shoot me some directions to the Rover that’d be much appreciated.
And Radio Picon-
I’m in your area. If you ever want to try to organize a meetup closer to home let’s see if we can’t get our wonderful pcasters to exchange our emails, huh?
August 1st, 2007 at 8:36 pm
Gray, sounds good to me. Maybe we could even arrange a frak party for Razor! Though it is so close to Thanksgiving I bet a lot of people will be out of town.
I would love to see BSG on a TV again, maybe somebody has a big plasma screen or something! I had to watch the whole last season on a computer from grainy Itunes episodes. Anyway, Chuck you can certainly give my email address to Gray.
August 1st, 2007 at 11:58 pm
Chuck-
Thanks for the directions. I’m looking forward to getting out on the open road and for a change, not using my cell phone. I’ve really taken the Galactica Disclaimer to heart and will certainly try to limit my in-car chats.
Radio Picon-
I would definitely be down for a Razor frak party. The family comes to us so I’ll be there with bells on no matter what holiday it is.
August 2nd, 2007 at 12:27 pm
I just checked out the Irish Rover website - home of the famous Rusty Nuts? Are you sure you want to go there?
Have a pint of Guinness for me!
August 2nd, 2007 at 12:43 pm
Melissa: Like any good pub, the website doesn’t do it justice. It’s actually a pretty decent little place. And as stupid as the name is, the “Rusty Nuts” are pretty good. The *really* stupid name is the sampler — called “a chance to taste all our nuts.”
No, I’m not kidding.
August 2nd, 2007 at 1:10 pm
Feldercarb! I’ve come down with a nasty sinus infection. So, rather than wipe out a portion of fandom with my own version of Lymphocytic Encephalitis or whatever it is, I’ll have to forego the much-anticipated meetup. Have fun with the Rusty Nuts!
August 2nd, 2007 at 3:22 pm
I think that should be part of the invitation…. “Meet us at the Irish Rover for a chance to taste…” Oh, nevermind. It’s not that kind of crowd.
August 2nd, 2007 at 8:46 pm
I can, however, vouch for the Rover in that they have nothing on or off the menu beginning with the words “Rocky Mountain…”
August 2nd, 2007 at 8:48 pm
Sorry to hear it, Granger! We’ll do a cheers for you. And hopefully the “level orange” air pollution around here will calm down and let your face shrink back to normal.
August 3rd, 2007 at 2:32 am
Whoa! [in my best Butthead voice] If you click on Chuck’s map link it says
“Map…Satellite…HYBRID” in the upper right hand corner of the map. I didnt see the Base Star link.
Whats up w that Chuck? Do they cook the “sampler” in Hybrid goo? Maybe thats the dip…
Have a Harp for me. (The Fair Melissa stole my Guinness reference) Or maybe a Moosehead and a shot of Jack.
[per Aaron Douglas--ambrosia is actually green Gatorade. How cool is that?]
August 3rd, 2007 at 10:27 pm
Have fun guys - we will be there in spirit….one of these days the Dallas Crew and the Philly Crue will meet.
August 5th, 2007 at 9:18 pm
Chuck, Audra, Stevearino, Julie, and Nick:
It was great to meet all of you and have some faces to put with the names.
August 5th, 2007 at 9:58 pm
Gray: It was good to meet you, too. I’m glad the venue worked out well, and we really appreciated you making the drive!
August 8th, 2007 at 5:19 pm
Had a lot of fun. It was nice to meet almost everyone *cough* Sean *cough*…
Oh, Audra, your Monday night American Lit class was full
Kind of bummed out about that one.
