Dr. Beckett Goes To Star Trek

By Chuck

It seems Stargate: Atlantis’ Dr. Carson Beckett (a.k.a. Paul McGillion) won’t play Scotty in the upcoming Star Trek XI, but he will make an appearance. He told Trekmovie.com:

“As you know, I have signed pages of confidentiality clauses. I can say that I had a scene with Kirk and that was pretty cool. And I am not a ‘red shirt,’ so there you go. I was around for about a week.”

Check out the rest of the interview for more details, and some information about upcoming ‘Gate.

  1. Steven Says:

Paul Hello Its too bad that you didn’t get part of Mr Scott, I think that you would have been a fine choice. But on the bright side you are going to be the movie. I hated the fact that they killed of your character Carson Beckett, he was one of the most likable character on the show. Its interesting that they have brought him seemingly back from the dead. The explaination for his sudden resurrection should prove interesting. Best wishes Paul

  2. Tanu Says:

all the characters are being played by such young actors that i’m surprised Paul McGillion was even considered for the role.

  3. TJ Says:

Tanu - Paul is only a year older then Simon Pegg (whose 37-38). Scotty and his alter ego James Doohan was 10+ years older then the rest of the cast. So if Spock/Quinto is 30, around 40 is spot on for Mr Scott…remember he was a highly experience Starfleet engineer.

  4. Tanu Says:

Simon Pegg is that old?!? Holy crap…i retract my previous statement. Seriously, Pegg looks like in his late 20’s.
