The Galactica Watercooler website operates in support of a weekly podcast in which we discuss the characters, storyline, and happenings surrounding the hit show Battlestar Galactica.Â
The idea of creating a Galactica podcast came to us one Monday morning during season 2.5 when we were doing what we bet most of you are doing at that time: sitting around (eating up time we should’ve been spending working) talking about what happened in the last episode, trying to get our minds around the Cylon plan, and guessing what’s going to happen next. We thought, “Wouldn’t this be a lot more fun if we could include lots of other people in this discussion?”
We didn’t want to tread on any of the already great fan text and audio content already out there — we wanted to add to it in a unique way. So, we decided to create a podcast with a decidedly talk-radio feel. There are three of us, and we all bring different perspectives to the ‘cast. We also disagree a lot, which (while it might strain relations here) does make for good podcast material.
We’ve also added what we feel is a very cool way to include you more directly in the podcast: We’ve set up a phone number that you can call to leave us verbal feedback. Sure, there are ways to create audio feedback and send it to your favorite blog, but nothing beats the simplicity and immediateness of picking up the phone and giving us a call. The number is 214-296-9229. We can’t afford a toll-free number on our out-of-our-own-pockets budget, but there are no additional charges beyond whatever your carrier-of-choice sticks you with for a standard call.Â
And thus began Galactica Watercooler.
