The Enterprise’s mission was to “seek out new life.” Greg of BarBlog.co.uk’s mission is simpler: to visit and rate every pub, club, and bar in the UK. Today he took a little time out, though, to rate a more far-out bar: Quark’s watering hole from Star Trek: Deep Space 9. What’s this experienced expert’s take?
“Overall [...]

Before BSG there was Trek, and with Ron Moore, Trek was good. Now TrekMovie.com is reporting that the Galactica co-creator “wrangled a set visit” to the new Trek flick, and his (very censored) response is… quite positive.
Besides mentioning how much he enjoyed walking around a set with a Federation ship again, he also voiced his [...]

Sure, most adults who saw The Search for Spock in the theater recognized Christopher Lloyd’s Klingon Commander Kruge as Jim from Taxi. This is Cracked’s reason for listing this “cameo” as the fifth worst in history. But luckily for me, I was young enough that I didn’t watch Taxi at the time. In fact, when [...]

News broke recently that Iron Man baddie (pictured from the recent trailer) and long-time TV actor Faran Tahir will play a yet-unnamed Starfleet captain in Trek XI. Trek-friendly blogs are already touting rumors that he’ll play a “strong” captain, contrasting him to “weaker” red-shirt captains like “Ferris Bueller, you’re my hero” captain John Harriman, Scotty-rube [...]

MTV’s Trek-tracking crew ran down Bruce Greenwood yesterday. Greenwood is slated to play Kirk-before-Kirk Starfleet captain Christopher Pike in Trek XI. Sadly, besides confirming that he wasn’t a fan until he started his research, all Greenwood could say about the new movie was that… he can’t say.
Still, the video’s pretty entertaining. Don’t miss the part [...]

Middle-of-nowhere, NJ rag Bayonne Community News ran a puff piece on hometown boy and Trek screenwriter William Stape yesterday with the following lead: “With a new film due for release by Christmas, ‘Star Trek’ has once again become fashionable.”
Since when does Trek “become fashionable” only in the months surrounding a movie release? And since Trek [...]

It looks like this interview took place last year, but was recently posted to the Cinefantastique site. Regardless, it’s totally worth a look. The sometimes ebullient — and always interesting — Takei takes interviewer Craig D. Reid from early Trek through his appearance in Heroes with stops via Howard Stern and the insanely funny Shatner [...]

TrekWeb and many others are touting the addition of Darlena Tejeiro and Paul Townsend to the cast of the upcoming Trek XI. While Townsend will reportedly play “a Starfleet security officer” — red shirt? — the only lead we can find on Tejeiro’s role is from TrekToday, which writes that “she will not be playing [...]

It looks like Star Trek XI’s move to spring 2009 isn’t as free of competition as it was a month ago. Variety is reporting that the new McG-directed Terminator flick is opening just two weeks after the Trek franchise’s new hope. Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins will (as of now) release May 22, 2009, and [...]
